Mel Gibson Month: The Road Warrior

Well, this is probably considered one of his best films, so I should probably watch it.

The copy of The Road Warrior was one from the local library, and it has some kind of fucked up quality to the video where it seems like it was unmastered in the sense that it makes the movie look like it was some bottom quality soap-opera thing.

It’s not the original film’s fault, since this wasn’t the problem with Mad Max, and videos of the film online don’t show this ridiculous quality. I don’t know, but there’s something wrong with this version of the film, like it was made by amateurs.

I got used to it eventually, and most of the weirdness was drowned out by the thoroughly entertaining fight/chase/fight-chase scenes.

It’s really easier to describe the movie in just a few screenshots.

It’s a surprisingly tightly made film and it was really pretty good. There was one narm-y scene where Humungus and his bros tie up prisoners and torture them in full view of the good guys, and I wish his character had a more defined ending, but it was a pretty good movie.
